Scowl!

scowl! This is a piccie of me scowling. I’m not really mad or nuttin’, but I tole Robin she couldn’t talk much about the thing she is currently working on, cuz it’s really cool, an I tink it should be a bit of a surprised an stuff.  So I tole her dat if she said what it was gonna be, I would scowl at her – and no one wants me to scowl.  See the piccie?  Withering, huh?

If Robin does decide to post about it, an she looks here, she’ll see me scowling an know dat she better not.  ‘least that’s my cunning plan.

It is really cool, though, an if it works out like we want, an we do a lotta work together on it all like we hope to, then it can be really something exciting.  You’ll read about it here soon, really!

Also, be sure an stop by the island.  The weather is still pretty snowy now, but the upcoming weather looks good an we might see an early spring coming to Livingtree.  So if you wanna get some of the fun stuff like snowmobiles, snow people kits, an holiday bears – or jes enjoy our little winter wonderland – now’s the time.

I jes hope my face dun stick dis way.

Sweaters for Adults Finished!

Okay, it took a few extra days, but the Moose Sweaters for adults are ready to go!

Come and get a nice, toasty sweater so you can stay warm through the longest night of the year. (Which happens to be tonight. Solstice is at 1:08 am tomorrow, Eastern time. Happy Solstice! :D )

description

As it turned out, our Test Market recommended that I do something so that people could pull out the skirt and make a longer sweater, and also decided that they were good to wear with just the Jacket part, and no skirt.

So they have Skirts and Collars optimized for Ladies and Men, a Sweater (shirt icon) that has bulk for added warmth (Looseness slider) and a Jacket so the men's pants won't show through the back, and the ladies can pull the cuffs down over their wrists.

Available now, L$100, Mod/Copy/NO Transfer (but there's a Gift Button on the vendor.) In 19 colors, from Robin (Sojourner) Wood's AV Store, Livingtree (104, 128, 24)

Slight Delay...

I'm afraid that I'm not going to have the Moose Sweaters up for sale today, as I'd planned. Sigh.

There were a zillion things happening on Sunday, and Monday is my day off, so I sat down bright and early today to get the Vendor shots done for the sweaters.

The shots with the female model went as smoothly as can be expected, but when I switched into a male AV, and started to get ready to show the sweater on the guy, I realized there was a problem.

Because of the way the Skirt dives into the back of the male avatar, you could see his jeans where his sweater ought to be.

After some experimenting and playing around with things, I decided that the only way to really fix this is to make a Jacket that can be worn over the Sweater, with solid sweater colors below the waist. Just using the Jacket instead of the Shirt won't work, because you can't make the Jacket bulky. It's always going to look like it's painted on. So I'm afraid that guys will have to wear both pieces.

I also had to make the sides of the Skirt a tad more "poofy", because at a Poofy setting of zero, the pants show when the avatar moves. Using the Jacket it's not quite as bad, but there's a white line in the sweater at that point, so as the Avatar moves, the white appears and vanishes, which is still pretty bad. (I couldn't make the line match perfectly in the various avatar shapes, so this seemed like the best solution.)

So now the package is going to have skirts for both Men and Ladies, as well as Turtlenecks for both, and a jacket layer. Ah well, Ladies can wear the jacket if they want the sweater to come a little farther over their wrists, so I suppose it's not entirely a bad thing.

I'll come back and post pictures when I have them. Right now, I'm working on getting the jackets made for the 17 sweater colors I did.

Perhaps I should have done fewer colors, but they were just so much fun to do!

Free! Holiday Goody Boxes for Kids & Adults!

I have the Goody Boxes for kids and adults out in the middle of Livingtree Island now!

Mari put a funny toy in each of them, and I filled them with clothes, candy and stuff (more clothes, in the adult one, and less stuff.) Seven different things, all told, in each one! (Not counting the parts and variations.) And best of all, once you've unpacked the box, you can empty it out, put your own presents in, and give it to someone else! (It's mod/transfer, just so you can.)

Here's a sneak peek at a couple of the things you'll find in the Adult box. The Kids box has the candle, too, but a different sweater.

Picture of Robin Sojourner with a blue and white moose sweater and a vigil candle

Both of these are new designs, and not available anywhere else at the moment, and the box is free! So come and get yours!

It's also snowing now, all over Livingtree. Come play the Elven Drums, sit by one of the campfires, or skate in the snow!

See you there!

Boys Cold Weather Skin Demos

The demos for the boys Cold Weather skins are up in Kick the Can now. I hope you like them. :D

picture of boy with red rosy cheeks, on snowmobile

As I might have mentioned, if you want one please IM me, and I'll get it to you. I'm not putting them in the vendors, because I don't want to spend the time making the 54 vendor images required when I could be making things to put in the Freebie Box!

Speaking of which, that's what I'm doing today. I'll post more about it later. :D

First Teaching Script out at the Script Shack

I placed the first of the free Teaching Scripts in the Script Shack a couple of days ago.

I'm not an Expert scripter, but I can figure out how to do most of what I want to at this point, and people have started to ask me questions about scripting; so I thought I'd put some of the basic stuff somewhere that people can get it easily.

Each Teaching Script will come in a prim that has the script running, so people can see what it does. Inside the prim will also be a second script, which isn't running, that will be heavily annotated, and a notecard explaining how to use the scripts to learn about scripting.

To use them, you'll pick up the script box (they're free) and take a look at the running script (it's labeled b). If you see something you don't understand, then open the Annotated script (a), and take a look.

You can also just read the Annotated script, but I'll warn you that it's mostly orange. :D (SL shows script comments as orange text, and all the annotations are comments.)

This first script shows the basic structure of a script, and also explains how to use Touch toggles, timers, how to get a color from an object, and how to generate random numbers.

The next one is going to explain how to get those blue menus to turn up when you touch an object. :D

Winter on Livingtree Island

After two successive winter storms, Livingtree has transformed into a Winter Wonderland. Snow blankets the ground, the river is iced in, and frost coats the trees. A few new, seasonal activities have also cropped up on the island, taking full advantage of the winter weather.

In front of Robin (Sojourner) Wood's AV Store, you can borrow one of Bloodsong Termagant's snowmobiles. Likewise, a kid-sized version is available in the front of Kick The Can. Both can provide you with quite a bit of fun, and can get you some tremendous air if you hit the high points just right. Vendors for both all reside near the snowmobile rezzers.

A three-ring ice skating area is nestled in the area between Polt Pfft (the rocky outcropping on the east coast), the play yard, and the mud puddle. It's full of ramps and other stuff, including a trampoline and a ring of fire!

A holiday gingerbread house has taken residence near Cheep Cheep landing. It looks tasty.

You can make your very own snow angel out in front of Kick The Can, too, as well as play in the poofy snow piles that dot the island.

In the stores are more to add to the fun, including holiday pinwheels in You Know, For Kids, a build your own snowman kit (and some pre-made ones for those with no time to build) at the AV store and Kick The Can, and the cold-weather skins, new kids' sweaters (and an exclusive one in the Kick The Can lucky chair), and the holiday luminaria mentioned below.

More goodies are sure to descend in the next few, as the holiday season continues.

Winter Luminaria!

People have been asking for designs on my Luminaria for quite a while, and I've finally done it. D:

picture of eight luminaria, standing in the snow

There are eight designs, all driven from the same "touch menu" that allows you to choose the color of the bag, the color of the light, or the state of the Luminaria (Light, Full Bright, Off, Auto Light, or Auto Full Bright (on at dusk, off at dawn.)

They are out now, at the The Broom Closet and Robin (Sojourner) Wood's AV Store. L$100, Copy/No Mod/No Transfer. (But there are gift buttons on the vendors.)

Now that the scripting is done, I'll be making more of them, for other occasions. I think I might also put a sizer in, for people who have extra large builds, and would like extra large Luminaria to put in them. Let me know if you'd like that!

Demos for Girls Snow Skins Out!

I got the demos done for the Cold Weather skins for Little Girls finished and placed in all the places where I sell kids skins.

Because there has been almost no demand for these skins (I think I've sold five, in the week or so that they have been out,) I'm no longer planning to do the whole vendor thing for the boy's skins.

Instead, I'm going to put out some Demos for them, and include a note which says that if any boys want the skins, they can IM me and I'll be delighted to sell them to them.

If I sell a dozen or so, I'll do the vendors. But it takes me most of two days to make the 54 vendor images that would be required, and I'd rather spend those two days doing things that people are interested in!

Speaking of which, there should be Luminaria with Winter Designs on them out sometime today. The designs are all done, and the script for the one-prim versions was finished yesterday. I still need to do the script for the 2-prim and the demo, and get a vendor shot, but that shouldn't take terribly long!

See you on Livingtree!

New Holiday Bear 2007!

Thanks for doing this, Mari! :D

Wanted to let everyone know that I have the new Holiday Bear for 2007 out and ready! It's only going to be sold from now until December 31, so if you want one, don't wait too long.

picture of the new bear, from the vendor

It's a totally new bear design, mostly sculpties, with joints that act like the joints on a real bear (instructions included) which make it really easy for anyone to move the arms, legs, and head, so you can pose it however you want!

It comes with five different variations in the package; Sitting and Standing, with no animations, and Cuddle, Carry Right, and Carry Left, all with custom animations included.

Mod/Copy/NO Transfer (but there's a Gift Button on the vendor, if you want to get one for someone else.) L$150 at Kick the Can main store, Robin (Sojourner) Wood's AV Store, and everywhere else you can get my stuff.

While you're at Kick the Can, check out the new Snow skins for girls! You, too, can look like you're really outside playing in the snow, with rosy cheeks, a red nose, and ruddy fingers (and toes, knees, and elbows, if you're not dressed warmly enough.) Comes with an attachment that lets you see your breath, so you can take snapshots with that extra touch of realism!

See you there!

I've also taken the liberty of grabbing some older, yet relevant content from my personal blog and the Second Life forums. This'll at least give you a little bit more to see here as we get things movin' on here!

Thanks for checkin' us out!
