Spring has sprung

I have had a fairly active week in the workshops, slaving over the prims. Clearly, Livingtree needs some child labor laws!

Where I live in the real world, unlike some others who live and work on Livingtree, spring has arrived. The sky is clear and bright, the trees are in bloom, and Robins (no, not with the last name Sojourner) practically infest my yard.

Because of this, I've got my spring pinwheel in the store!

Spring Pinwheel

It's a mere three prims, spins, and animates your avatar, as well as scatters particle daisies around you. It's fun an bright colored, and can be found in the kick the can store.

With the retreat of winter on the island, too, I've begun to focus on outside fun -- especially the campsite I've added two new things over there:

Camp Chair

This chair took a bit of time, mostly with getting the animation to work right for this somewhat unusual portable-style camp chair. The canvas back, too, can change into a number of different colors with a simple voice command.

Oh, and no, it is not that kinda camping chair You don't get Lindens by sitting in it. They are in a pretty spot on the island, though!

Dutch oven

Also, this dutch oven was a bit of work too. The oven itself is sculpty which, while I'm still a novice at, came out pretty good if I say so myself. Touching the pot will also give you a nice, steaming cup of stew with a sipping pose and everything.

You'll find both of those out at the campsite on the north-east end of the island. I'm hoping to have a few other things done in the next week or so.

Anyway, more prims to fling!

Neko Noodles the Doll

Hi!

I've got another variation on the Noodles the Doll out. She's a Neko version, with lil ears and a tail.

Her skirt changes it's texture on touch, and since she's nodifiable, you can add your own favorite textures, or even give her whiskers!

Also arriving in my store (as I make em...) are some funny-looking hats. They're displayed on a tree near my bear and that ole cooky jar.

Enjoy! :-D

Cakes and Presents!

Mari's Rez Day was great! (Although she did crash the Sim, exploding things. :D) If you missed it, I'm really sorry. You should try to get to her fireworks show the next time she has one. They are spectacular!

And now everyone knows what the Big Tent behind the school is for!

That's right, it's for Parties and other Celebrations. We'll be renting it out, and when it's not being used for that, I'm going to have Cakes, Gift Boxes, Balloons, Banners, and other things like that for sale.

I made the first cake for Mari's RezDay.

Two Tier cake, with pink and yellow icing roses

When the owner touches it, she gets a menu that lets her light the candles, blow them out, or get a plate with cake and ice cream. Everyone else just gets a plate when they touch it.

This is what it looks like with the candles lit.

Same cake, but with the candles burning

I'm particularly proud of the one-prim icing roses on that cake. I think they turned out really well. I need to do something about the leaves, though, before I think it's salable. At the moment, they are also one prim each, which makes for lots of prims. But as soon as that's fixed, there will be cakes for sale. :D

Behind the cake, you can see the first of the Gift Boxes. They use a script that was originally written by Eladon. (I swapped some stuff for it.) You can set the gift to be opened by a specific person, on a specific day, without the risk of selling it to them for L$0.

When that person opens it, the top slides off, and particles explode out of it, to the sound of a fanfare. It also gives whatever is in the box to that person, whether the things are copiable or not.

I need to tweak it a tiny bit more (Eladon wrote it so that you can change the ribbon color, but I'd like to change the paper color, too,) and then that will be ready as well.

With any luck, it'll all be in place in a couple of weeks, tops.

Stay tuned for more developments!

Yard Stuff!

Hi!
The sprinklers are back on around the park, and I put up my statue "The Gardener" out by one of the maples in the woods over there. He was a feature for a public garden I made with the Kid Scouts a while ago. :-)
You can get them directly from where you find em, or purchase from the posters inside my store.
Happy Spring! :-D

Introducing... the Whee-Lo!

Brand new from You Know, For Kids - The Whee-Lo!

Whee-Lo

This classic toy was originally produced in the real world beginning in 1953, and remained popular well into the 1970s. Like many vintage toys, too, the Whee-lo has enjoyed a resurgence as a "retro" toy.

While your avatar carefully moves his or her hand, the spinning wheel glides along the metal framework, producing a soft noise! Lots of fun, and a truly unique Second Life goodie! It's also transferrable, so it's perfect as a gift!

Available at You Know, For Kids in Livingtree.

New Playset at Pygar's Stuff!

A nice stable with a couple of horses and an optional base for displaying is now available at Pygar's Stuff in the school building!

It's also just about time for a new special edition of my HowdyKat Doll for spring! She should be here by next weekend. The Winter Edition is still available until the end of the month.

Enjoy! :-D

Circus Tent Sighted!

If you've looked behind the school lately, you'll find a Circus Tent there.

New Blue and White striped tent, with Red Maples in bloom behind it, and only a tiny bit of snow in the foreground.

I'm not telling you what's going to be in there yet, but I think you'll like it.

If you visit it, though, you might want to touch the panels. You can make them raise and lower! (And boy, let me tell you from having spent a number of years dealing out of canvas tents at the Pennsic Wars; being able to raise and lower tent panels with a touch is really something!)

While you're there, take a look around the island. The last of the snow is expected to melt tomorrow, and the red maples are in full bloom. With any luck, there will be some Spring Beauties by Valentine's Day!

More signs of Spring - Pussy Willows!

Spring is continuing to advance on Livingtree, and, staring yesterday, people have been spotting Pussy Willows covered in pinkish gray catkins!

Picture of pussy willows, in front of a huge rock, with more pussy willows and a yellow weeping willow and pine trees in the background.

Pussy Willows have always been a special harbinger of Spring for me (Robin,) and I really wanted some for the island. But I wasn't able to find any, anywhere. So I've taken the plunge, and gone ahead and made some.

I thought that other people might like them, too, so I'm selling them as well.

I've made six different plants, and right now they are scattered over the island, set for sale individually. (For L$25.) Tomorrow, I'm going to be packing them into Six Packs, one of each design, for L$100, or Estate Packs (four of each, or 24 plants) for L$250. If you only want one, and you want to see all six of them in close proximity, head for the Mud behind Kick the Can, or for the Drums behind the Broom Closet.

If you want to have a variety, though, you might want to wait until I have the packs out, in the Home and Garden Center.

Just wanted to give you all a heads-up.

By the way, I made the yellow willow trees, too; but I'm not sure about selling them. If you think that you'd like to have them, please IM me.

More news tomorrow, when the packs are ready. In the meantime, come enjoy the Spring! (Or, if you want one last bit of Winter, come now. The skating, snowmen, and snowmobiling will still be there for this one last weekend, and then they are going to be gone until next November.)

See you there!

Valentine Bear 2008

Well, between One Thing and Another it's later than I would have hoped. But I finally have the Limited Edition Valentine Bear out and ready to go in my stores all over Second Life.

Picture of Bear Sitting, and Bear Standing (from the back)

This time, she's holding a red satin "balloon" that says "I Love You" and wearing a red satin bow with hearts on it.

She's pure white, with a pink heart-shaped nose and pink paddy-paws, and has lavender eyes. I think she's a real cutie. Or maybe he is. (I've never been good at determining the gender of Teddy Bears. You'll have to do that yourself, for your own bear.)

Like all my other sculpted bears, you can use "Local" rotation to move her arms, legs, and head easily and naturally. But, for your convenience, I've included five variations of the bear in the pack. One is sitting, one is standing, and the other three have built in animations and positions for cuddling to your chest, or holding in your right or left hand.

Unlike the others, though, this one is a Limited Edition, and will only be sold until February 15th. After that, you'll never see this combination of colors and accessories again.

Mod/Copy/No Transfer (but there's a Gift Button on the Vendor, so you can buy one for that Special Someone.) L$150. Available now from all Kick the Can stores, including the main Kick the Can store on Livingtree (149, 130, 24) and from the Robin (Sojourner) Wood AV Store on Livingtree (104, 128, 24).

See you there, and Happy Valentine's Day!

Happy Imbolc!

The spring thaw is upon Livingtree!

Spring is returning

With the retreat of the heavy snow that blanketed Livingtree this winter, we're seeing a return to the flora and fauna indigenous to the island. The willows are showing their early spring color, and the waterfowl have moved back upstream.  Soon the snow will melt fully away, and the early flowers of spring will start to peek up around the island.

As the weather warms, some of our winter past times will be packed away for the season. If you haven't come to ice skate or snowmobile, you'd best not wait much longer.  Likewise, now is the last call for getting your own build your own snowman kit. They won't be available for much longer!

For those child avatars returning from Camp HardKnock and missing the winter conditions in Leden North, this will be a fine time to enjoy camping at the far end of the island, or fishing at the other.

Flannel Shirts, New and Upgraded!

I've finished five more flannel shirts, and they are up for sale now!

Picture of the Burgundy Plaid Shirt

As always, all the plaid matches perfectly on the front and back of the arm, and between the top and bottom of the jacket, so they are completely seamless (except where there would be seams on a real shirt.) They also have all the details you've come to expect; buttons on the cuffs and pockets, satin lining on the collar seam so it won't scratch your virtual neck, yokes in the back, and so on.

The Burgundy Plaid is shown above. In addition, you can choose Navy Windowpane, Neon Blue (sure to wake you up,) Newspaper (so-called because it's black and white, and read all over, sorry, sorry,) or November Plaid (because that's the month I designed the plaid.)

In addition, I've upgraded all the old flannel shirts, so they are now mod/copy/no transfer. This should give you much more flexibility in terms of saving tinted, sleeveless, or otherwise modified shirts, and putting them into Outfits for quick change. :D

While I was at it, I added the Buttoned Up but Untucked version that some of you have been asking for to all the old shirts as well.

So now, all the flannel shirts come in all six styles. (Tucked, with buttoned cuffs or rolled sleeves, Untucked with buttoned cuffs or rolled sleeves, and Untucked and Open with buttoned cuffs or rolled sleeves.) The Untucked versions are on the Jacket Layer, because they have to be. The Tucked versions are on the Jacket, Shirt and Undershirt layers, so that you have the maximum layering potential. If you're counting, that means that there are ten different versions of the shirt in the pack, which still costs only L$100. Now, that's Value!

On sale now, at the Robin (Sojourner) Wood AV Store at Livingtree (104, 128, 24).

See you there!
